I was asked to write music matching the pictures published in the March edition of Hwaum webzine. As I am not a composer, I could only write this little viola study, based on the difficulty of holding long double chords in harmonics. While I was working on "Rencontres" by Dong Jin Bae, for saenghwang, viola and cello, I realized how difficult it is to master your bow in a slow and perfectly linear gesture (playing in harmonics being highly perilous, the slightest variation the angle of the bow on the strings, when you have to play two at the same time, is fatal!) J’ai écrit cette petite étude pour alto, sur la difficulté de tenir de longues doubles cordes en harmoniques. Alors que je travaillais « Rencontres » de Dong Jin Bae, pour saenghwang, alto et violoncelle, j’ai réalisé combien il est délicat de maîtriser son archet dans un geste lent et parfaitement linéaire (le jeu en harmonique étant hautement périlleux, la moindre variation de l’angle de l’archet sur les cordes, lorsque l’on doit en jouer deux à la fois, est fatale!) 이 웹진으로부터 사진과 연관된 음악을 써달라는 위촉을 받았다. 나는 작곡가가 아니지만, 비올라를 위한 이 짧은 연습곡을 작곡할 수 있었다. 하모니스로 긴 더블 코드를 유지하는 어려움에 대한 곡이다. 생황, 비올라, 첼로를 위한 배동진의 <만남>을 작업하면서 느리고 완벽한 선형 동작으로 활을 마스터하는 것이 얼마나 어려운지 깨달았다.
